Who We Are
This garden has been carefully preserved as a Christian holy site because many believe it could be the garden of Joseph of Arimathea in which Jesus was buried after His crucifixion.
The Garden is owned and administered by The Garden Tomb (Jerusalem) Association, a Charitable Trust based in the United Kingdom (Charity Number 1144197). The association is comprised of people from many different denominational backgrounds, united by the glorious message of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The grounds of the garden were purchased in 1894 in order to preserve the site.
There are four basic groups that make up the Garden Tomb Fellowship:
- Our Board
- The Jerusalem Staff
- Volunteers from all over the world
- Friends of the Garden (this could be you!)
Today the site is a beautiful and peaceful garden, shielded from the noisy and vigorous city all around. The empty tomb is a reminder of a risen, living Saviour in a harsh, uncaring world.
Thousands of visitors from around the world visit this special place every year to celebrate the joy and wonder of the resurrection. Many find peace and renewed hope.
